Royalty Fees by KiNg EmErY is an album with swirling nebulous tracks with little instruments peeking out in between. It is neither brazenly modern nor self-consciously retro, which makes a great make do for the unity of voice, the laid-back vibes, and the trap sounds.

The artist originally hails from Dallas and does not mind stuffing his sound with the most exciting productions. While he holds his own on songs be it the melodic “Old Relationships”, the flamboyant “Drip”, and the menacing “$Tar”. KiNg EmErY excels in his melodic flows and creativity, which becomes self-serving towards the second half of the album.

The strength of KiNg EmErY is in his versatility, with no aspect of his style standing above the rest. The hooks are solid, and his songwriting never falls beneath a certain quality standard.
