There is always surprising about a rock music. Well it could begin with a little bit of sweet and melodious tune or hit you hard with a harsh tune. You never know and you can never do the guesswork successfully by just reading the title of the song.

Nothing to lose in that case, was a little bit of what I was already expecting the first time I read the song title. It related to something competitive, aggressive, and possessive. So when it begins, get ready to hear that rusty vibe of the electric guitar and the drum beats coupled with the vocal of the lead singer as he sings “Nothing to live for, nothing to lose, nothing but me but whatever I choose, I do what I wanted…”

Amidst all the harshness, the music has a core that is soft and melodious. So even during the transition, you will not get the feeling of the tune going offbeat. It is always on beat and the jamming of the instruments, the vocals, and the background chorus all comes in perfect blend.

As the song continues the tune drops and so does the voice of the singer as he singing “All I ever want is to be just like a kid again…”. It is like the story that the rebel was just narrating suddenly comes to a hold as the rebel goes into deep thought and reminiscence of what he actually wants to be really. Despite the drop of the tune, the listener never fails to miss the comfortable and soft rhythm that is soothing to the ears.

After the melodious drop, what follows is the heavy sounding strumming of the guitar that reminds me of Red Hot Chilli Peppers style. This is where the song takes off once again. The rebel of the story jumps back into the real world out of his reminiscence. I like the vocal peak that too takes off and this has been beautifully blended with the playing of the electric guitar — absolutely beautifully composed and which reminds me of John Frusciante.
