Music knows no boundaries or distance. Both Science and Technology has proved this once again – one need not visit a studio to record jamming sessions live as virtual jamming sessions are becoming more popular now in the city. When the whole world is in Pandemic situation and India is in 21 days lockdown mode for Coronavirus outbreak, musicians in Kolkata are showing their talent virtually through Facebook online jamming videos and its surreal!

Let me explain this in more detail. Keyboard player, author, music composer and producer Sudipto Paul, who is associated with bands like “A Dot in the Sky” and “Pota R Moruddyan”, was the first to start working on home quarantined jamming videos.

Recently, the first jam sessions which started to go viral was with our favorite musician, drummer Gourab Chatterjee (Gabu da). Later, Sudipto began to create new sessions by collaborating with the city’s other vocalists and musicians. These jamming sessions had received tremendous positive responses from the people during the quarantined period. Following this, other artists from the city also started the what is called Home Jamming Videos – that is artists can join these sessions from their homes and from any place. Among these artists were famous singer & song writer of our favorite band Chandrabindu – Upal Sengupta, Sayan Mitra – lead singer of another famous bangla band Eeshaan, Inisha Banerjee, Shalini Chatterjee, Argha Sen, Sambit Chatterjee, eminent guitarist from Kolkata Bodhisattwa Ghosh, Joy Sarkar, Nabarun Bose, Chayan Chakraborty, Annie Ahmed, Avirup Das, Sunny Karmakar and many more.

It is indeed a very brilliant approach towards the use of technology and creative work.
